Private tours in Prague

Before we start describing tours in Prague we have to say something about the city itself. Its history starts around 900, when a Czech dynasty Premyslid united the country under their rule and chosen Prague as their residence. During the ages Prague was formed by five, formerly, independent quarters. Old Town, New Town, Jewish Quarter, Lesser Quarter and Prague Castle Town.

To discover Prague properly we advise to explore each historical quarter. For that we would like to recommend you our tours.

Prague
Jewish Prague - For centuries Prague was one of the natural centers for European Jews. In here Jews from East and West used to meet, live and work. First news about the Jews on the Czech territory is from 10th century. They use to come as merchants, businessman and craftsman. Since the beginning of the 13th century they had to live in restricted areas, later on named “ghettos”, and they suffered from oppressive laws. Despite that they created an extraordinary rich culture. Their “Golden period” in Prague was probably the second half of 16th century when they, thanks to the close contacts with the Emperor Rudolph II, lived in peace protected by the imperial power. In 18th century discrimination was partly relaxed by the Emperor Joseph. In 19th century Austrian –Hungarian absolute monarchy was changed into the constitutional monarchy and in the 1890s the Jewish Quarter was almost entirely rebuilt. Despite that Jewish Quarter in Prague is one of the largest and the most preserved in the Europe. You will see the Old New Synagogue, Old Jewish Town Hall, Maisel Synagogue, Pinkas Synagogue, Old Jewish Cemetery, Klausen Synagogue and Spanish Synagogue. All the above-mentioned places form today Jewish museum. We will visit all of them in order to see how the culture and history of Jewish people developed. Of course we will not miss the most tragic period of Jewish history called “holocaust” or “shoa”.

Beer means for majority of Czech people the same like wine for French, Italian or Spanish. For us it is not only an alcohol beverage it is more a social thing. Men and women drink beer. The president, the Prime Minister, craftsman, doctor, lawyers, everybody drinks it. Our tour would take you trough the most traditional Prague microbreweries to give a taste of Czech “liquid bred”.
